Visiting Shelley in Wollongong – Melbourne Family Documentary Photographer

When I first got in touch with Shelley, we just clicked straight away. We chatted a lot about photography, and just about anything really. It was exactly the same with Jess and it wasn’t long until we became the three amigos. I can’t help but feel a bit anxious and eager if I don’t hear from them each day. It just comes so naturally.

When Shelley told us that she was going to be teaming up with her artist Mum to host an amazing gallery to showcase both their amazing talents, Jess and I jumped at the chance to visit and finally meet Shelley in person. It was a little nerve racking, wondering if we would hit it off in person as well as we did in text, but it was so easy. It felt like we’d been besties since childhood. We all just talked non stop and got along so effortlessly.

It was so nice of Shelley to take the time out of her busy schedule, having the gallery opening as well as tending to her 2 gorgeous kids, to drive us around and show us some awesome Wollongong sights!

Beach was a necessity, since we see so much of it in Shelley’s work. I’m not sure if I did it justice, she is such a natural at capturing the right moments as well as the beach colours and moods. Her daughter Lola was the perfect model and reminds me so much of my own daughter. I just couldn’t get enough of her!

Thank you both Shelley and Jess so much, for what will be an everlasting memory for me. I had the best time with both of you and I hope we get to do it many more times, maybe make a tradition of it =)

I hope you enjoy my take on Wollongong…
